YANGO rolls out Benefits program for partner drivers & couriers in Zambia

Published

International ride-hailing service Yango, has rolled out its benefits program for partner drivers and couriers in Zambia. This program includes several benefits streamlined to support the drivers and reduce the economic burden while creating a fertile platform for them to work and improve their lives. One of such benefits is the partnership with Mount Meru for over 250 hard working and best quality Yango partner drivers to purchase fuel at discounted rates.

The partnership is significant for Yango whose priority is to provide the best benefits and perks for partner drivers. The Mount Meru fuel discount card will help the drivers save K0.5 for every liter of fuel they buy. For example, if a driver buys 10 liters of fuel a day, they get to save up to K150 each month. The drivers were selected based on the total number of successful trips taken as well as the feedback ratings from riders.

Yango Zambia Country Manager Kabanda Chewe said the partnership will work as a reward to loyal drivers who will be given an amnesty to purchase fuel at a discounted price.

“We are happy to partner with Mount Meru to enable our loyal drivers on the App to purchase fuel at a discounted rate of 3 percent flat discount. This partnership will encourage our drivers to use the App more often to be able to qualify for this discount,” Chewe said.

In addition,Ms.  Chewe said   ‘’drivers will be earning points for every ride they accept that covers different distances, meaning the more rides a driver picks the more points they will earn and the more rewards they will be entitled to.This effort will afford customers available rides and more income for drivers.’’

“By launching an amnesty of activity points, we will increase activity points of all drivers to 100, opening access to our subsidies to all drivers that may have less than 60 activity points’ Chewe said.

She said this development will help Yango improve its service delivery on the App by ensuring that drivers are kept in check and customers satisfied.

Yango is alive to the fact that the energy sector is what drives the economy, and the transport sector remains an area of investment potential.

One of the beneficiary partner drivers, Hasib Nimsonda expressed his excitement about the program and urged his colleagues to work hard and utilize these benefits to maximize profits and make their lives better while developing the ride-hail industry in Zambia.

He said ‘’I want to thank Yango for this great initiative. Indeed this comes at a very crucial time and I believe it will go a long way in helping drivers save a lot on fuel while being motivated and empowered to work harder’’.

FOLLOWING the ongoing negotiations to revamp operations at Mopani Copper Mines on the Copperbelt, Government has finally secured an equity partner.

The Equity partner being International Resources Holdings (IRH) an affiliate of Abu Dhabi Conglomerate International holding was selected after an extensive process.

The process was undertaken by ZCCM-IH, together with Rose Child and Company, a company based in South Africa.

In carrying out the process of revamping the mine, which started last year in June, the process focussed on assessing Mopani’s balance sheet due to high level indebtedness and also finding a suitable partner for sustainable development.

Announcing the development, Mines and Minerals Development Minister Paul Kabuswe said the selection of an equity partner will help restore life back into Mopani.

“I wish to announce and I am so glad and exited to announce that after extensive and thorough process, Government through the directors of ZCCM-IH have appointed a strategic equity partner for Mopani. The preferred partner selected is International Resource Holding Limited an affiliate of Abu Dhabi Conglomerate International holding company,” he said.

He said the partner selected is expected to inject funds into Mopani to stabilise short term work requirements, completion of the mine projects and unlock its potential.

Mr Kabuswe also stated that the equity partner will also reset the existing relationship with Glencore.

He further added that other details of the development at Mopani will be announced in due course when signing of the deal is being made.
