JOURNALIST Faith Musonda is back in the news in connection with corruption related allegations with the State applying to have more assets forfeited from her.
It is alleged that she has properties worth over US$244,000 which are suspected of being tainted proceeds of crime.
The Director of Public Prosecutions wants the properties to be forfeited to the State for being suspected tainted proceeds of crime.
Among the properties in question include a house worth US$185,000 in Kingsland City, assorted agriculture equipment worth US$54,844.53 and jewels worth US$5000.
Others include treasury and government bonds worth K1.1million and K3.1million and a plot valued at K4.6million in Chisamba.
The Anti-Corruption Commission(ACC) has submitted in court that investigations revealed that Ms Musonda’s official emoluments, valued at K2.1million, are not correlating with the value of properties she owns.
ACC investigations officer Ferguson Kombe submits in the Economic and Financial Crimes Court that investions established that the total value of properties owned by Ms Musonda was disproportionate to her official emoluments.
He said investigations also revealed that the former Zambia Development Agency employee is either a shareholder or director or both, in several companies.
The companies in question include Vintage Services, Rainbow Promise Academy, Goldore Company Limited, Clear Icon Media Consultants, Spock and Span Laurromat Services and OCK Investment Limited.
Mr Kombe submits that investigations are Zambia Revenue Authority revealed that the companies in question were not tax complainant.
“I had reasonable grounds for suspecting that the properties could be proceeds of crime or were realized directly indirectly from unlawful activity,” Mr Kombe submits.
