Eden University National League side Trident Football Club has received a major boost ahead of the upcoming the 2022/23 season with the arrival of new kit sponsored by Sarago Motors.

As part of its two year sponsorship, Sarago Motors logo will feature on the front of the club’s first team’s shirts for both home and away matches.

The new kit was unveiled on Saturday at an exciting music festival at Sentinel Grounds in Kalumbila District attended by officials from Sarago Motors, First Quantum Trident Minerals and community leaders with top artiste Afunika performing.

Luonde Kyanamina, Chief Operating Officer for Sarago Motors, said: “This is a really exciting next step in our relationship with the club and FQM Trident Limited.”

Ms. Kyanamina said the sponsorship is part of Sarago Motor’s commitment to helping local communities and investing time and resources into causes that make a difference.

“This is a valued partnership because both Sarago and Trident F.C are driven to succeed through inspiration, passion and dedication. Sarago is a highly successful values-driven Zambian brand that is determined to be the best and will be a fantastic partner for Trident F.C in our efforts to grow the beautiful game.”

She added, “As a responsible corporate citizen, Sarago is keen on supporting the continued development of the beautiful game in Zambia by partnering with FAZ and other stakeholders in the football family to keep the momentum and grow the support even further. Supporting teams from lower leagues such as Trident F.C will ensure a steady supply of new talent that will one day take over from the Enoch Mwepus, the Patson Dakas, the Fashion Sakala, the Grace Chandas and the Barbra Bandas. By doing so, we would have secured the future success of our national teams.”

Kyanamina stated that Sarago believes the new kit bearing the company’s brand will go a long way in motivating the team to reach higher levels of performance and challenged Trident F.C to win promotion to the FAZ Super League next season and stay there.

And FQM Trident Ltd General Manager Junior Keysey said: “We’re delighted and excited to be able to confirm Sarago Motors as our new shirt sponsors. Through the company’s many dealings with the Sarago team, our relationship has grown from strength to strength and we’re all excited to see the Sarago logo on the kits of our Trident F.C team.”

Trident F.C President Mainza Mazuba welcomed the new kit urging the players and the technical staff to repay the faith that Sarago has exhibited in the team by winning promotion to the FAZ Super League.

“We have no excuse now to fail. The sponsor has come on board and stretched the hand even further and we have to reciprocate this favour by winning matches on the pitch until we get into the Super League,” he said.

Founded in 2015, Trident Football Club plays in the FAZ Eden University National League and is nicknamed The Conquerors.

The team kicks off the 2022/2023 season with a home fixture against Lusaka Dynamos on August 20th 2022.

Government secures an equity partner for Mopani Copper Mines

Published

on

FOLLOWING the ongoing negotiations to revamp operations at Mopani Copper Mines on the Copperbelt, Government has finally secured an equity partner.

The Equity partner being International Resources Holdings (IRH) an affiliate of Abu Dhabi Conglomerate International holding was selected after an extensive process.

The process was undertaken by ZCCM-IH, together with Rose Child and Company, a company based in South Africa.

In carrying out the process of revamping the mine, which started last year in June, the process focussed on assessing Mopani’s balance sheet due to high level indebtedness and also finding a suitable partner for sustainable development.

Announcing the development, Mines and Minerals Development Minister Paul Kabuswe said the selection of an equity partner will help restore life back into Mopani.

“I wish to announce and I am so glad and exited to announce that after extensive and thorough process, Government through the directors of ZCCM-IH have appointed a strategic equity partner for Mopani. The preferred partner selected is International Resource Holding Limited an affiliate of Abu Dhabi Conglomerate International holding company,” he said.

He said the partner selected is expected to inject funds into Mopani to stabilise short term work requirements, completion of the mine projects and unlock its potential.

Mr Kabuswe also stated that the equity partner will also reset the existing relationship with Glencore.

He further added that other details of the development at Mopani will be announced in due course when signing of the deal is being made.
