A 37-YEAR-OLD general worker of Monze has been taken to court to explain why he allegedly swindled six people out of over K2o0, 000 by pretending that he would find them jobs which he actually never had.
The accused is kelvin Hamapa has been slapped with six counts of obtaining money by false presences.
In the first count, allegations are that between September 30 and October 30, 2022, with intent to defraud, obtained K19, 500 from Melani Mwansa by falsely pretending that he had a job to offer when infact not.
It is alleged in the second count that between the same period, the accused got K19, 000 from Florence Chisangano whom he promised a job which he failed to offer.
In count three, allegations are that during the same period, Hamapa, with intent ro defraud, obtained K17, 300 from Cynderella Malikebo whom he promised a job he failed to offer.
It is alleged in count four that the accused also got K99, 000 from Doris Mutale by pretending that he would give her a job when infact not.
Allegations in count five are that between the same dates, the accused obtained K10, 000 from Penlope Kabwe by promising her a job he failed to offer.
In the last count, allegations and that during the same space of time, the Hamapa obtained K K99, 000 from Aunisha Singati by falsely pretending he had a job offer when infact not.
The accused is scheduled to take plea before magistrate Kawama Mwamfuli.
