POLICE in Lusaka are investigating a matter in which the principal at Kabulonga Trust School allegedly assaulted a security guard who he found dozing on duty.
Sydney Chilinda 56 is alleged to have found Reagan Banda aged 27 on the course of his duty and when Mr Banda tried to stand up he slapped him, punched him and kicked him.
He allegedly further went on to order the victim to undress all his clothes including his underwear and when he was completely naked, he captured him using a phone.
While capturing, he is believed to have then called the boarding master and some boarders and then later chased him out of the school premises while still naked.
The victim was only given clothing by another security guard and later he went on to report the matter to police.
Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga told Mwebantu in an interview that the incident allegedly occurred on September 28, around 02:00 hours.
He said the incident is alleged to have occurred at Kabulonga Trust School situated at Plot number 2754, Late Road, Kabulonga.
“Brief facts of the matter are that the complainant Reagan Banda is a security guard under Mantis Security Company and was deployed at Kabulonga Trust School since the school has a contract with the company. On September 27,2023 at 17:00 hours he reported for work. During the course of his duty on September 28 ,2023 at around 02:00 hours as he was dozing in a guard room, he heard some footsteps and as he was tried to stand up he received a slap and it’s when he realized it was the Principal of that school,” he said.
Mr Hamoonga explained that after reporting to Kalikiliki police post, Mr Banda was issued a Police Medical Report Form.
He said on October 11, Mr Chilinda, the school principal was summoned to Kalikiliki Police Post and a warn and caution statement was administered.
Mr Hamoonga said the suspect opted to remain silent and was later on released while investigations are ongoing.
