AN 18-YEAR-OLD GRADE 11 pupil of Lufwanyama Boarding School has been apprehended after he allegedly stabbed two other pupils both aged 17 in the chest and on the palm.

The juvenile suspect is believed to have sharpened an instrument after one of the victims who is a grade 12 prefect tried to control him over school rules.

Refusing to comply, the juvenile suspect decided to take the anger to the dormitories where he allegedly stabbed the prefect twice in the chest and another boy who could not run on the palm.

Copperbelt police commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba who confirmed the sad incident which occurred at Lufwanyama Boarding School said the juvenile suspect has since been charged with Unlawful wounding.

He said the incident occurred on Saturday around 19:30 hours at the boarding school dormitories.

“Brief facts are that the suspect who is a grade 11 pupil had a difference with a school prefect who is a grade 12 after he tried to control him over school rules. However, he did not comply and their differences continued until they reached the dormitories. The suspect became unruly and when other grade 12 pupils who were also in the dormitory tried to advise him, he produced a hard laundry hanging wire which he had sharpened and made into some form of a screw driver from his pocket,” he said.

Mr Mweemba said when the pupils saw the weapon they all scampered out of the dorm ,but the suspect managed to stab the victim twice on the left side of the chest causing him to sustain 2 deep stab wounds.

“The suspect also stabbed another pupil within the same dormitory who failed to run on the left palm using the same instrument causing him to sustain a deep stab wound on the left palm,” he said.

He said school authorities managed to apprehend the suspect and handed him over to Lufwanyama Police Station where they reported the matter.

Mr Mweemba has explained that the two victims were rushed to the hospital where they were attended to and later discharged, while two dockets of unlawful wounding opened, medical report forms issued and arrest made.

A 42-YEAR-OLD  man of Mukumbe village in Nakonde of Muchinga province has gone missing and is being presumed dead after he was allegedly tortured by a village headman and three others on suspicion that he stole some chickens.

Charles Siame was allegedly beaten and tortured using electricity current from a motor in the presence of his relatives.

The relatives suspect that Siame is dead after the torture he got with instruction of Whiteson Siame, the village headman at his residence.

After the torture, relatives explained to police that they were asked to leave the headman’s residence, together with community members, but were forced to go back three days after to inquire why the victim was not being set free.

Upon asking, the headman expressed ignorance and that is when the matter was reported to police.

The 73-year-old village Head man has since been arrested by police, while a search for the victim has been instituted.

Muchinga province commanding officer Kaunda Mubanga said police have recorded a case of suspected murder which occurred on March 7th this year around 21:00 hours at Mukumbe village.

He said Siame’s younger reported that his brother went missing after he was unlawfully detained and tortured by the headman and three others on suspicion of having stolen some chickens.

“Brief facts of the matter are that on March 7, at around 07:00hours, the now missing person and presumed dead was apprehended and taken to the residence of the Village Headman on suspicion that he had stolen some chickens.”

“At the Headman’s residence he was interrogated and tortured in the presence of his relatives and other members of the community using electricity current from a fully charged motor vehicle battery which was connected to an inverter in a bid to make him disclose where he had taken the chickens,” he said.

Mr Mubanga explained that , according to the younger brother who reported the matter, he said due to the beating and torture he became weak and exhausted that he could barely talk or stand up on his own.

He said later in the evening at around  21:00 hours, the village headman dispersed the community members and instructed his three security men to guard him while he was tied to a tree with his hands and legs also tied together.

“His relatives went back to their respective homes and waited until on March 11th, this year when they went back to the Village Headman to inquire about the whereabouts of the their relative. To their surprise, the Headman expressed ignorance. Hence, they became suspicious and reported the matter to Nakonde Police Station for assistance. Acting on the report, Police officers from Nakonde Police Station booked out to Mukumbe village where they picked up the Village headman who upon being interviewed could not give satisfactory answers,” he said.

NEW Apostolic Church Zambia has rushed to the High Court where it has filed a lawsuit against a breakway church calling itself, True Apostolic Church.

The church has sued True Apostolic Church for trespassing on its premises, libel, and illegally using its emblems.

The aggrieved church further seeks a declaration that all church buildings it built across the country using its funds and contributions from its members belong to it and not True Apostolic Church.

New Apostolic Church Zambia is also seeking compensation or an anquiry relating to damages for infringement of copyright and for conversion.

The church also seeks an order that the defendant provides an account in respect of such income or payment received by the defendant to the plaintiff’s use from the sale of materials, goods or products carrying or containing the plaintiff’s logo.

The plaintiff states that is and was at all material times a church of Christ duly Registered and incorporated in Zambia.

New Apostolic Church Zambia submits that it was the legal and lawful owner and occupier in possession of various pieces of land and churches in Zambia.

The plaintiff submits that it will state at trial that in its over 100 years of existence in Zambia, it has built numerous churches and structures across the country, some on state land and for which certificates of title have been issued by the State.

“The plaintiff shall aver at trial that following the break-away from the plaintiff and the subsequent registration of the defendant by the Registrar of Societies, the defendant and its members engaged in activities aimed at disturbing, interfering and disrupting the smooth operations of the plaintiff, ” the document reads.

New Apostolic Church Zambia submits hat the breakway church took over its church buildings built on traditional land and threatened church members who had remained in the main church.

“The defendant has been infuriating and demeaning the leadership of the plaintiff and interfering with the worship activities of the plaintiff including exploiting without the plaintiffs products, goods, copyrighted material, logo, emblem and other church symbols without permission, ” the document reads.

The True Apostolic Church has also threatened to take over, and in some cases, actually managed to take over and occupied the plaintiff’s church buildings.

“For instance, the defendant managed to lock up Besa Congregation in Chipata which the defendant is currently using for its own church activities and also successfully locked up, Chizongwe congregation, Hilltop congregation and Roadside Congregation in Chipata and these remain locked up on the date of issuing this process,” the statement of claim reads.

The plaintiff also submits that the defendant has also been issuing death threats.

“Death threats were issued by Priest Musonda of the defendant church currently working as a Police Chaplain at Lusaka Division of the Zambia Police against a named member of the plaintiff who shall testify at trial”.

The plaintiff also submits that the defendant wants to misled the public that it supports homosexuality by quoting a document issued by a pressure group within New Apostolic Church.

“The belief apparently held by the defendant that the plaintiff supports homosexuality has erroneously been drawn from a document titled Rainbow NAC issued by a private initiative or pressure group within the New Apostolic Church in the United States of America where homosexuality is recognized as a human right”.
