Dr Kennedy Malama is new Permanent Secretary for administration at MoH

PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu yesterday sworn in Ministry of Health Spokesperson Dr Kennedy Malama  as Permanent Secretary for administration at the Ministry.

And President Lungu has urged Dr Malama to prioritise the procurement of medicine to save lives.

President Lungu also advised Dr Malama not to take a lethargic approach which other Permanent Secretaries and Ministers had taken in their execution of duty.

“Let me also implore you not to recline whenever the Ministry of Finance indicates that there is no money to procure drugs, but you should instead impress upon the Ministry to make them understand that procurement of medicines is an urgent matter,” President Lungu said.

“I am confident that you are suitable for the job and you will work to the expectations of the Zambian people.”

President Lungu also cautioned the Permanent Secretary to work within his job description and ensure that he delegates and supervise his subordinates, as “delegating without supervision is a recipe for failure.”

“I wish you God’s blessings as you take up this new appointment and l know that you will work to the expectations of the Zambian people.,” said President Lungu.

CCPC reviews alleged cartel selling alcohol at exorbitant prices

THE Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has disclosed that it is reviewing the alleged cartelistic conduct perpetrated by some market players in the distribution value chain of clear beer products in the country.

CCPC public relations officer Rainford Mutabi said in a statement that the concern arises from the influx of complaints that Commission has received.

Mr Mutabi said some distributors are alleged to have formed cartels with middle-men selling alcohol beverages at exorbitant prices.

“In view of the foregoing, the CCPC continues to review this matter and will share the findings upon conclusion,” he said.

Budweiser is gathering over 100 influencers from all over the world in a major FIFA World Cup campaign spearheaded by football icons Messi, Neymar and Sterling, who will be flown to Qatar to make content for their followers and the Budweiser brand.
