FOOTBALL House chief executive officer Adrian Kashala has left his position at the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) after being appointed as the second top cop at the Paramilitary Battalion Unit of the Zambia Police.
Since 2018, Kashala has been working as FAZ general secretary on secondment from the Zambia Police where he served as commissioner of police at police headquarters.
Kashala’s duo roles were not without hurdles. In 2021, he lost his police position after being retired in national interest by the government at the height of the wrangles that hit FAZ leading to the Association’s elections.
He was reinstated in the service by the new dawn government and has since been elevated to the position of senior assistant commissioner of police and deputy commanding officer at Para.
FAZ president Andrew Kamanga confirmed in a statement released by communications manager Sydney Mungala that Kashala has left the corridors of Football House.
“Following the reinstatement of Mr Adrian Kashala in the Zambia Police where he has been appointed as Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police and Deputy Commanding Officer Paramilitary Battalion Unit, he will no longer serve as FAZ General Secretary,” Kamanga said.
In the interim, FAZ registrar Iva Lengwe will act as general secretary until a substantive replacement is found.
“On behalf of the FAZ executive, I wish to thank Mr Kashala for his selfless service to the game. We will however be open to utilizing his experience in various areas of our game as he is an asset,” Kamanga said.
