CHIPOLOPOLO coach Avram Grant has sent his best wishes to the women’s national team, the Copper Queens as they head out to the World Cup this week.
Zambia’s World Cup debut has drawn closer with coach Bruce Mwape expected to name his final team that will head out to the global event that kicks off in New Zealand and Australia.
The team is currently in Germany where they will play their final friendly match against that country before heading out to the Group C base in New Zealand.
In his goodwill message to the team, Grant said the ladies will have to give it their best by combining their strengths.
“Nobody has enough talent to live on talent only…You have a big talent, I saw the game today [Friday], I was very happy from the game.
“But remember talent without passion, without mental strength is not good but what I saw today [Friday] I was very happy and I wish you all the best in the World Cup,” Grant said.
Meanwhile, Football House has added Chipolopolo physical Jamie Lawrence to the Copper Queens technical bench.
“Chipolopolo physical trainer Jamie Lawrence has been added to the Zambia Women’s National Team technical bench for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup to be co-hosted in Australia and New Zealand.
“Lawrence will be key to the physical conditioning of the players and his addition to the Bruce Mwape technical bench comes a few weeks after Lisa Cole was incorporated to the Copper Queens setup as technical advisor,” FAZ wrote.
Copper Queens coach Bruce Mwape has welcomed Lawrence
“He is most welcome and I am sure he will be able to work on the fitness of the players. This is what we want, we want more expertise so that by the time we are getting to the World Cup, everything will be in place,” Mwape said.
The Copper Queens reinforced technical bench will have a technical advisor, physical trainer, video analyst and nutritionist and FAZ hopes the team will be sharpened ahead of their Group C opener against Japan on 22 July.
