A NINE (09) YEAR OLD BOY of Lusaka’s George Compound has been electrocuted and died after he tempered with a naked electric cable.
Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo has said that the victim fell unconscious and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Matero level one hospital.
“Police in Lusaka received a report of suspected electrocution which occurred on 25th October, 2020 at around 1130 hours at a Make shift shop in which Dickson Zulu, unknown age, of George Compound, reported that his son Golden Zulu aged nine years was electrocuted after he tempered with a suspected naked cable alleged to have been connected from the main house of Leonard Phiri aged about 60 of George Compound,” Katongo said.
Katongo said no visible injuries were observed from the deceased.
Katongo revealed that upon witnessing the incident, members of the public pounced on the house from where the victim was electrocuted and damaged the wall fence, windows, doors and some looted household goods which are yet to be itemized.
She said police who visited the scene found one black electric cable which was connected to the makeshift shop.
She said an inquiry into the matter has been launched and that a team from Zesco has been activated.
Katongo said the body of the deceased has been deposited to UTH mortuary awaiting post-mortem.

Ndola police recover stolen vehicle from Church
POLICE in Ndola have recovered a motor vehicle which was stolen at church on Sunday.
A male Juvenile of itawa area has since been arrested for allegedly stealing the vehicle at St Andrews United Church of Zambia in Ndola.
Copperbelt province deputy commissioner of Bothwell Namuswa has confirmed the arrest to Mwebantu.
Mr Namuswa said the juvenile aged 19 has been apprehended for stealing a motor vehicle number plate AQB 1023 silver in colour.
He said three other suspects have also apprehended in connection with the stolen vehicle but they are not yet been identified.
Mr Namuswa said the stolen motor vehicle is valued at K120,000.
He said the case was reported was filed in by the owner of the vehicle, Chileshe Puta on the same day that the theft happened.
The deputy police commissioner said officers retrieved the motor vehicle at Blue mint club in Ndola.
” I wish to confirm that the suspects have been apprehended and will appear in court,” Mr Namuswa said.
