FIVE (05) suspected UPND supporters in Lukashya Constituency have been arrested by police for assaulting two PF supporters.
And Inspector General of Police Kakoma Kanganja says UPND Lukashya parliamentary candidate Davies Mulenga is not among the five that have been arrested.
The incident happened yesterday around 15:00 hours at Chiombo Village in Chief Munkonge located about 65 kilometers from Kasama, when the two PF supporters Justin Bwalya aged 18 and Gilbert Mulenga aged 16 years were allegedly found tempering with the UPND campaign materials.
Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo revealed in a statement that the victims reported the matter to police officers who were patrolling the area and the officers later intercepted the suspects of which the victims positively identified them.
She said the five suspects have been detained in police custody and charged with assault.
She also urged political players to avoid taking the law into their hands by reporting any grievance to the police.
