AN eight (08) year old girl of Lusaka’s Garden House area has been burnt after her aunt dipped her hand in boiling water for allegedly stealing a K20.
And police have arrested the suspect identified as Bridget Mumba aged 18 of the same abode.
Acting Police Spokesperson Danny Mwale confirmed the development to Mwebantu in a statement and said the incident happened yesterday around 16:00 hrs.
“Police in Lusaka received a report of Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm (OABH) in which a female juvenile aged 8 was burnt by way of dipping her right hand in a pot of boiling water by her Aunt identified as Bridget Mumba aged 18 of unmarked house number in Garden house. This was after she was alleged to have stolen a K20.00,” Mwale said.
And Mwale said the girl sustained burns on her right hand and was rushed to Kanyama Clinic for treatment.
Nurse, ambulance driver killed in Lundazi road traffic accident
AN ambulance taking a patient from Ng’onga to Lundazi Hospital hit a tree at Mphamba Bridge, killing a nurse and the driver, police said.
Eastern Province Police Deputy Commissioner Paul Achiume said the accident happened at 2am.
He said the driver, Stephen Mulenga, a ZNS officer of Lumezi ZNS Camp, who was carrying 3 passengers sustained fatal head injuries and died on the spot. Mr Peter Mwanza a nurse from Lundazi District Hospital sustained head injuries and also died on the spot.
The survivors, Crodina Moyo also of Lundazi District Health Office and an unknown male adult of unknown abode complained of general body pains and are admitted to the District Hospital.
Mr. Achiume said the accident happened when the driver of the ambulance failed to negotiate a curve and careered off the road on the right side, hitting into a tree and fell into a ditch.

A 49-year-old man of Lusaka has received the shock of his life after a cop he bribed instead reported him and declared the contraband.
People have commanded the officer for his action describing it as unusual.
According to police spokesperson Esther Katongo, the suspect was being sought by the criminal Investigations Department in another case involving motor vehicle transactions.
She said upon being summoned on December 1, this year, to appear at Police Service Headquarters for questioning, the accused person is alleged to have transacted a K10, 000 the officer identified as Inspector Lombe Chulu through mobile money account.
Mrs Katongo said the named officer reported the matter to his supervisors.
“The accused person has been arrested and detained in police custody yet to appear in Court for Corrupt Practices,” she said.
