Two catholic nuns attacked in Itezhi tezhi, police say

TWO Catholic nuns of St Barbara Itezhi tezhi Parish are nursing injuries which they sustained after a masked criminal attacked them and hit them with an iron bar.

One of the nuns sustained deep cuts on the forehead and on the eye while another sustained similar cuts in the head.

And Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo says police are looking for the same criminal.

Katongo revealed that the two sisters caught the criminal trying to steal in one of their houses and after being caught, he hit both of them with an iron bar.

“Police in the area received a report of Aggravated Assault with Intent to Steal from the victims identified as Sr. Akuffor Assumptor aged 48 years and Sr. Matildah Mulenga aged 57 years both of Saint Barbara Parish in Kataba Township in Itezhi-tezhi District that they were attacked at their connivent by a masked male person who wanted to steal from them,” Katongo said.

Katongo said Sister Mulenga Matilda sustained a deep cut on the forehead and injuries on the eye while Sister Akuffor Assumptor sustained a deep cut on the head.

The incident happened when the victims found the criminal attempting to break in sister Mulenga’s apartment. The incident occurred on 24th August, 2020 at around 2100 hours at Kataba Parish connivent house Itezhi-tezhi,” said Katongo.

And Katongo said the victims were rushed to Itezhi-tezhi District Hospital for medical attention.

Lusaka man found dead both his legs cut off, police say

A 35 year old man of Lusaka’s Mazyopa compound in Mandevu constituency has been discovered dead with both his legs cut off near the railway line between Kabanana Site and Service and Mazyopa compound.
The deceased identified as John Sekeseke is reported to have gotten home  on Friday around 20:00 hours and later went out without telling the wife.
Deputy Police Spokesperson Danny Mwale in a statement disclosed that this morning around 06:00 hours, a report was received that Sekeseke was discovered dead near a railway line with both his legs cut off.
“Police officers who rushed to the scene discovered that the body had both legs cut completely and sustained two cuts on the back of the head,” Mwale said.
He said the body has since been deposited in the University Teaching Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem while investigations in the matter have been instituted.

Quickly report any case of missing children to us, police urge parents and guardians

POLICE have arrested a couple of Lusaka in connection with the offence of Child Stealing which occurred  last month in Palabana  area.
The report was made by the mother of the  child identified as Alice  Chimwanza  of Waterfalls  Area along  Palabana Road  in  Chongwe District that her child aged six years went missing last month on October 27, and that the child was picked by an unknown female who the mother was able to identify.
Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo said investigations were launched and on November 25 this year, Police received  information that the suspect was spotted  at a farm along Great East road.
She said members of the public were about to descend on the suspect but the police quickly intervened .
Mrs Katongo said police have withheld the names of the suspects for security reasons but the woman is from Lusaka’s Chipata Compound.
She said after interrogations, the suspect  led officers to Chipata Compound where her husband was also apprehended.
Mrs Katongo said officers further led to Chadleigh along Magoye road where the child was later found.
She said toddler has since been reunited with  his family and investigations are still ongoing.
“The two suspects are detained in police custody for the offence of Child Stealing awaiting Court appearance. As Zambia Police, we are advising guardians and parents to be security cautious by monitoring the whereabouts of their children and they should not allow their children to move unaccompanied,” she said.
Mrs Katongo has also urged parents and guardians to quickly report any case of missing children to any nearest police station.
