10 year old girl of Mumbwa dies after she was defiled by two men of the same family, police say

A Ten (10) year old girl of Mumbwa has died after she was defiled by two men of the same family.

The deceased child was found in unconscious state and rushed to the hospital where she later died.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo has confirmed the development to Mwebantu in a statement and has identified the suspects as Harry Kandolo aged 25 years and Jack Kandolo aged 20 years both of Makondo Village in Chief Kaindu of Mumbwa District .

Katongo said the incident happened on between Sunday at 18:00 hrs and Monday at 11:00 hrs at the same village.

“The victim later died in Mumbwa District Hospital at around 22:00 Hours on 10th August 2020 and the body is in Mumbwa District Mortuary waiting for post-morterm, Katongo revealed.

She said the suspects have been apprehended and are detained in Police custody yet to be charged with murder.

Eight people die in a road traffic accident in Petauke district , police say

EIGHT people have died while seven others sustained serious injuries after a truck and a Mitsubishi Fuso collided head on in Petauke District of Eastern Province.

The accident happened on Friday around 21:30 hours near Musambazi Bridge, 25km west of Petauke Boma along Great East Road.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo has confirmed in a statement that the accident happened when the driver of the Volvo truck identified as Trust Mawele failed to keep to his lane and collided head on with an incoming Fuso truck which was being driven by an unknown man with unknown number of passengers on board.

Katongo said in the process, seven unknown people sustained serious injuries and are admitted to Petauke District Hospital and Minga Mission Hospital respectively while Eight unidentified persons died on the spot, and that among them, Six were males and two females.

She said the bodies are in Petauke District Hospital mortuary awaiting identification and post-mortem.

And Katongo said police have not yet established whether or not the drivers of both motor vehicles are among the victims.

Be wary of fraudsters, we are not conducting any recruitment at the moment, police say

THE Zambia Police Service says it is still not conducting any recruitment at the moment.

And police say it is worrying that members of the public are still being deceived by criminals through social media that the police is recruiting officers.

In a statement, Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo warned those who are asked by criminals to take application letters to unknown offices not to do so as they risk being attacked.

She has reiterated that the Zambia police has not carried any advertisement on recruitment hence all adverts and information circulating on social media about recruitment in the police service is fake and should be treated as such.

Katongo advised members of the public to wait for advertisements which are usually placed in traditional media (Print, Television and Radio) with a clear guide on how applications should be submitted.

Two people die after floor tiles they were offloading fell on them, police say

TWO people have died after floor tiles which they were offloading from a truck  fell on them whilst they were inside a container.
The incident happened on Tuesday around 16:00 hours at Kalatrade Industries Ltd which is located in 15 miles area along Great North Road, in Chibombo District.
And Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo who confirmed the development to Mwebantu in a statement identified the victims as Johnson Ntaulo aged 27 years and James Lupiya aged 37 who were workers at the same company.
She said officers who rushed to the scene found bodies of the victims still stuck and were found with head and chest injuries.
And Katongo said the bodies have since been deposited in the UTH Mortuary and an inquiry in the matter has been opened.
