Zambia 🇿🇲 beats Ethiopia 🇪🇹 3:2

THE Zambia National Soccer Team this afternoon completed a remarkable comeback against Ethiopia in an international friendly match against Ethiopia.

The Chipolopolo Boys had to come from behind to beat Ethiopia 3-2 courtesy of a goal by Kelvin Kampamba and two goals from Albert Kangwanda.

Zambia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia His Excellency Emmanuel Mwamba has taken time encourage players of the Zambia National Soccer Team.

Mr. Mwamba urged the player to be disciplined if they were to have a successful footballing career.

Speaking when he addressed the Zambia National Soccer team at Jupiter International hotel in Addis Ababa ahead of the Chipolopolo Boys’ international friendly match against Ethiopia this afternoon, Ambassador Mwamba said he was delighted to see young and promising players in the current national team setup.

Ambassador Mwamba said football is a mass supporters’ sport and was highly lucrative to the players.

He said if the boys used their opportunity properly, it would help transform their lives and that of their families, and will help bring glory to Zambia.

He said the players should regard themselves as ambassadors of the country and soccer fans’ expectations were high on their performance.

“Talent is nothing without discipline. Probably your coaches and leaders have talked to you about it, but it needs to be emphasized. You can be a great player but without discipline, that (talent) will take you nowhere,” ambassador Mwamba said.

“You have been blessed to have been picked to represent our national team. Don’t spoil or squander the chance; this chance might not come again. You are not the best, the most blessed but the Lord has picked you to play for our national team, regard it as a privilege.” he said.

Ambassador Mwamba urged the players to give a listening ear to the football administration and the Chipolopolo technical bench led by Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic.

“We have seen wonderful talent go to waste just because the players lacked discipline. Everyone starts small like that. You have left a lot of people behind because you are now playing for the national team,” he said.

“We want you to play at the world stage and watch you on TV wherever you are; so regard it as a blessing and God bless you all.”

Team Delegation Leader Lee Kawanu thanked Ambassador Mwamba for taking time to encourage the boys, describing it as a comforting experience to be welcomed by Zambians in foreign land.

“You can see that we have a lot of young new faces that are trying to break into the main team, this is a clear indication of what the FA (Football Association of Zambia) is trying to do which is to build something for the future,” Kawanu said.

Head Coach, Micho, disclosed that the team is in the country to play a series of friendly matches in order to get a competitive momentum before the back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations qualifier matches against Botswana in November.

“We are representing 18 million of Zambians and fully aware of that, we want to give everything against a great team coached by a great coach on the other side of a great nation that during the match, we are like sport enemies; after the match and before that we are sport friends.

The match will kick-off at 16:00hours (15:00hours Zambian time) and will be played at Addis Ababa stadium.

The Chipolopolo Boys are also expected to play three more international matches while in Ethiopia.
