THE Ndola Magistrate Court has convicted a Real Estate Agent for corruption and sentenced him to two (2) years imprisonment with hard labour.
Ndola Senior Resident Magistrate Honourable Osward Mwansa Chibalo found Tobias Nkhoma, a Real Estate Agent guilty of one count of Obtaining Money by False Pretenses and two counts of Uttering False documents.
Particulars in count one are that Tobias Nkhoma, aged 49 of Chifubu, Ndola district on unknown dates but between 27th January, 2016 and 30th June, 2016 jointly and whilst acting together with others unknown, by false pretences and with intent to defraud, obtained a sum of K17,200 from Nsofu Chilaisha in two instalments of K 7,200 and K10,000 as partial payment for the purported sale of property number L/Chichele/11.
In count two, Tobias Nkhoma , on unknown dates but between 1st March 2016 and 30th March, 2016 in Ndola district jointly and whilst acting together with other persons unknown, knowingly and fraudulently uttered a false invitation to treat dated 9th March, 2016 to Nsofu Chilaisha relating to property number L/Chichele/11.
In count three, Tobias Nkhoma , on unknown dates but between 1st March 2016 and 30th March, 2016 in Ndola district jointly and whilst acting together with other persons unknown, knowingly and fraudulently uttered a false offer letter dated 10th March, 2016 to Nsofu Chilaisha relating to property number L/Chichele/11.
The Anti-Corruption Commission in 2016 arrested and charged Tobias Nkhoma with one count of Obtaining Money by False Pretenses and two counts of Uttering False documents contrary to section 352 of the Penal Code.
Zambian truck driver burns to death 2 days after celebrating birthday
A ZAMBIAN truck driver has been burnt to death after a fuel truck he was driving caught fire, reports have indicated.
Simon Mulonga, an employee of Juba Transport is said to have died in Zimbabwe where the accident happened.
He celebrated his birthday on Saturday.
It is not immediately clear what caused the fire.
Mulonga was married to journalist Chikumbi Katebe.

Juliet Mayida Jacobs is former runway model, international pageant judge, Last year’s Zambia fashion week challenge winner and she recently showcased at this year’s Lusaka July in September.

RTSA calls for safety of pupils as Schools open on Monday
In a statement, RTSA Head of Public Relations Fredrick Mubanga also cautioned against the use of unsafe vehicles such as open vans and tracks to transport children to schools.
He said the increase in the number of vehicles on the road during this period poses a great risk to all road users if traffic rules and regulations are not adhered to.
And Mubanga has appealed to all Public Service Vehicle (PSV) drivers to observe appropriate speed limits.
He further implored PSV drivers to observe public health guidelines to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 among the travelling public.
