Central Province are Airtel Rising Stars Champions

Central Province are the new Airtel/FAZ Rising Stars champions after beating Southern Province 1 – 0 in a final played at the Barclays sports complex in Lusaka this afternoon.
The game which promised to be a cracker was killed in the 19th minute after Alfred Chirwa a defender from Central province was red carded for a foul on Aaron ‘Pilato’ Chibwe in the 19th minute resulting in a penalty.
Alfred Mafuleka sent the resulting penalty in the air and the scores remained barren the entire first half.
Central Province boasting national team caller up Godfrey Ngwenya piled the pressure on Southern though one man down and the pressure paid off as Joseph Lungu scored after a disturbance in the box.
The lone goal was enough to hand Central Province the title for 2012 with the 2011 champions disqualified for fielding over age players.
Earlier on Lusaka girls beat their Copperbelt counterparts 10 – 9 to become champions in the girls category while Northen Province thrush Luapula province 4 – 2 in the third and fourth play-off.
